Thier Foster Parent Says: "Jane is the sweetest dog - we loved having her and were very sad to see her go. She is such a friendly, joyful and considerate lady. She has this lovely way of greeting one with her whole body and face that just melts your heart. She was the best walker we've ever seen, always considerate of where we were walking. She rarely barks - I think I heard her twice when really excited and playing which was very surprising as it was the first time we'd heard it, she barks so seldom. She was so great with other dogs and new people loved going to Boris and Horton. And was really considerate when playing being more gentle with smaller or older dogs. There was this little boy in B&H maybe 2 years old, tiny little guy. And she was so sweet and gentle with him. She actually is a great cuddler - especially with me and other ladies that came to visit. She loved Matt but wasn't as free a cuddler with him. Zac and Matt agreed that she is more comfortable and uninhibited with the ladies but she was also very affectionate with Matt and loved to play with him. Everyone we met on walks commented what a sweet dog she was. She really is sweet. I call her sweet Jane - after the Lou Reed/Cowboy Junkies song.She is a dog with high energy levels and she was fine when we were at home but would come home after a walk and want to play a bit and rough and tumble. So when we sat down to work, she would get a bit bored and would then go poking around and maybe grab a shoe or counter surf a couple of times. But we'd only have to say no gently - and she immediately stop so she is very obedient. She also knows how to sit. She would do well in a family with kids or where there is another dog and as she loves being amongst company. She is such a lovely sweet animal and is such great company."
Level of dog ownership experience needed:
INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.)

Medium — Not bouncing off the walls but needs long walks and playtime, likes to be active
Cuddle Bug Level
Medium — Likes a good snuggle but not overbeeringly sow
Potty Trained
Yes — Few or no accidents
Comfy with strangers?
Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.
Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision)
Yes for all ages — very gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy
Social with Other Dogs?
Yes — Good with all other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other canines
Respectful of Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.)
Yes — Seems to get along with other animals, either tries to play with them or is mostly uninterested
Mouthy Behavior?
Medium – Is respectful of hands, feet, etc. but does like to chew on things it’s not supposed to like shoes, furniture, etc.
Leash Manners?
Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction. Very considerate of where we were walking.
Okay in the city?
A little unsure — In the beginning - Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). But got a lot better across the week.
Jumping on People to Say Hi?
Low – Doesn’t jump up on people or dogs. Unless very very excited - but so rarely don't want to make it medium.
Separation Anxiety?
Medium – Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone.
Crate training?
Yep/mostly – WE didn't haven't a crate but Zac had one and he said she seemed fine.
Medical status
Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake
How this dog ended up with Social Tees:
Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.
