My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little 7Ilb Rocco was found as a stray and his estimated date of birth is 8/1/2016. Don’t let the gray muzzle of this sweet little Black Chihuahua mix fool you. He still has a lot of energy and love to share. He loves humans and does well with other dogs. The best part is, he is compact, and his favorite place is in your arms or lap so you can take him anywhere! He was on the Red Carpet for Reigning Cats and Dogs, our annual fundraising gala, and he showed that he is awesome in any environment. He also went with our Puppy Love Team to a nursing home and boy, he loved all of that attention! He got to sit in so many laps and warm so many hearts. Rocco just wants a home and a human to hold him close. Come meet him today!!

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
