My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brook, Saffron and Forest all had a rough start in life, but they are ready to be their best selves in a furever home. They are about 3.5-4 months old (DOB about 7/15/24) and are very playful and friendly. They transitioned very quickly in their foster home from being nervous and a little shy in new surroundings to being comfortable and ready to take on the world!  Brook, the darkest of the three, is the most out-going and the first to greet her foster family at the door. Saffron’s colors are more blended than striped, and she takes a minute to warm up to new people. Forest has classic tabby stripes like Brook, but his coloring is closer to the lighter golds of Saffron. So any way you combined them, they make a lovely set of kittens! They love having people around, playing with interactive toys, and forming kitten puddles for naps. They do well with other cats after some initial, normal hisses, and they have previously lived with dogs. They should be fine with children who understand handling kittens and how to best play with them. They would make a fabulous trio, but can be adopted in a pair or individually (discount for adopting two). They are scheduled for spay/neuter on November 25th, but would be available to go home later that week. Foster is willing to work with families who will be traveling during the holidays provided they commit to the kittens in advance.  They are negative for feline leukemia and aids, had their first distemper vaccine, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked and neutered.  Additional vaccines included in adoption fee.  Preference will be given to local adopters and to adopters who have a young playmate companion for the kitten. We typically do not adopt kittens less than 6 months old to homes where they will be a solo pet. May be adopted separately or as a pair (discount for two!)  If interested in these cutie pies, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net

We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. The majority of our cats and kittens come from high kill shelters. Through our application and interview process, we strive to make the 'purrfect' match to insure a loving, lifelong home for those in our care. We do NOT receive funding from any national organization, federal or state governments.

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters are required to complete our application before adoption. Our adoption fee varies based on the age and breed of the cat. The fee includes testing for feline leukemia and aids, the series of distemper vaccines, the rabies vaccines, wormings, advantage so they are flea free when you take them home, a veterinary exam, and the spay or neuter. Microchipping is available for an additional $45. The adoption fee is waived for qualifying adopters interested in one of our sponsored cats.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

At this time we are not attending adoption fairs. To adopt, we ask that you first complete an application (email hhfrey1@tds.net to request and indicate the cat(s) of interest). Approved applications will be allowed to meet the cat in a home environment. Completing the application does not obligate you to adopt.

More about this rescue

Stray Connection is a small organization of private foster homes (no shelter or store-front) that takes in kittens/cats from shelters outside of Knoxville that are typically high-kill, low-funded. These cats are brought to Knoxville where they receive the necessary vet care. Because our cats live in private homes, we know them well. It is our mission to make the best match of the cat's personality and individual needs with an approved adopter.
