I adopted Nico as a puppy from Lancaster, PA. By six months, he began showing signs of separation anxiety, despite early training at Petco. Though he graduated, Nico still has issues with leash pulling, barking, and gets antsy around large dogs, cats, and squirrels, though he enjoys the dog park with smaller dogs. He does bark a lot and can come off as intimidating to kids, but he’s never shown aggression—just high reactivity and skittishness.
After trying personal training and anxiety medication with limited success, I realized his care needs exceeded my capacity, especially as a new mom. Nico has a sister he gets along with but can get jealous if she receives attention. I’m seeking a home that can embrace Nico’s loving yet anxious nature and give him the support and structure he needs.
