My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Fishy was brought in by her previous owner on November 6, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Say hello to Fishy, a dog with a name that's as unique as her personality-and she's reely ready to find her match! Fishy has a positive history with cats, so she might get along swimmingly with a feline friend. She's been around other dogs in the past and can be a good fit for the right pack, especially with a proper dog-to-dog introduction. While she's generally a social gal, she does have some resource guarding behaviors from her previous home, so supervision around other dogs and young children is suggested. But don't worry-she's already proven she can hang out with kids aged 5, 7, and 9 without any issues. A little fish out of water in her previous home, Fishy was mostly an outdoor dog, but she's ready to make a splash in a home with you! This girl is longing to be part of your world, whether its "Netflix and chill" or catching some zzz's on the couch. Due to Fishy's past, she could benefit from some positive reinforcement with potty training, leash walking, and crate training. She also "really wants to lose 5 pounds", so some exercise in an enclosed backyard and some healthy meals will do wonders for her figure-she's ready to be a lean, mean fetching machine! And don't forget about those pearly whites-Fishy might need a dental cleaning down the line and some tasty chews to keep her teeth sparkly and fresh. With your love and guidance, Fishy will be swimming through life with you in no time! Are you ready to reel in a fun-loving, sweet, and quirky companion? Fishy can't wait to meet you and make a splash in your life!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
