My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown, likely yes
Good with kids: No
Crate trained: Mostly
House Trained: Working on it

Lenny is a gentle, happy soul! This playful sweetheart has a special dance he busts out every time his humans walk through the door—it’s like a welcome party every time you come home! He absolutely adores other dogs and would be living his best life if he had a furry companion to spend his days with.

Lenny is still learning how to trust people and can be very timid at first. Being a peanut, he’s afraid of heights and does not enjoy being picked up. There’s not an aggressive bone in his body, but he’s definitely a squirmy worm when he wants to escape a cuddle! He needs someone who respects his need for personal space and understands that he can be a total introvert who prefers affection on his own terms.

Lenny’s a very shy guy and for that reason, a home with kids is not recommended. A patient, understanding person/ couple/ family with older kids that can truly appreciate Lenny’s quirky ways are the ideal adopters for this adorable Doxie. Lenny is extremely comfortable in the presence of other dogs and seeks out their companionship and wouldn’t mind sharing his space with some savvy cats who can handle his shenanigans.

Lenny’s made huge strides since entering foster care, but let’s be honest - accidents do happen, so a solid routine will keep him feeling secure. He does wear a belly band while in the house to help prevent marking.

Sure, Lenny has a few quirky habits, but he’s a total lovebug and will shine bright in the right home.

More about this rescue

Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the U.S.

As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.

Lastly, we promote animal welfare by lobbying important initiatives that both protect and give voice to the voiceless. By fostering an environment of collaboration with other organizations that share our goals, and working together instead of in competition, we find that we accomplish more.
