My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Microchipped, DOB: April 7, 2024

Hi, my name is Macchiato! I am a young girl with the cutest chirp you’ve ever heard. I am a bit shy when I first meet you, but I warm up very quickly and you’ll soon realize how loving and snuggly I am. I am very easy going and get along with everyone I meet.

You might think that I’m a cat, but my spirit animal is more likely to be a parrot. I love to be lifted up so I can perch on your shoulder or back. If you crouch down or bend over, I will jump up on your back and make myself comfortable. Sometimes I just feel like being carried so I’ll go up to you, raise my front paws, and chirp to let you know I want up!

I love to play and my favourites are noisy wand toys. If I hear the ringing of a bell I will wake up from the deepest sleep and sprint to get to the toy. I am also a big fan of the ball tower, but I am easily entertained by just about anything. I am very good at jumping and I think it’s great fun to jump up on the bookshelves and knock down everything I can. It’s hard to stay mad at me for it though because I’m just so cute.

When I am not running around the house and knocking things over, I love to look out the window and watch the world go by. Sometimes the blinds get closed but that’s okay because I’ve learned how to open them. During the day I like to nap on the couch or the cat tree, but at night you can bet that I’ll be sleeping on the bed with you in the spot that makes you the least comfortable.

I have a lot of energy and I can usually be found wrestling with my siblings. I also get along extremely well with the big dog at my foster home; I love to snuggle with her on her bed and play with her tail. I am a very energetic and playful cat that should be adopted to a home with another young cat. At my foster home there are some older cats and sometimes I annoy them with my youthful energy. My brother Cappuccino is also looking for a home and it would be amazing if we could be adopted to the same home! We can get up to no good when we’re together, but we make an adorable pair!

Before you put in an application for me, I have a question for you…do you like fillers? I do! You might have noticed in my photos that I have wild brows. Please read the next paragraph from my foster parents for very important information about me:

Macchiato has been diagnosed with eyelid agenisis, likely due to a viral infection while in-utero, affecting the development of her eyelids. She has undergone a procedure at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in Guelph to inject a filler in order to prevent fur and eyelashes from causing irritation and to be able to close her eyes. She currently requires Optixcare eye lube applied to her eyes 2-3 times a day. Macchiato's right eye is suspected of early sequestrum, which is possibly the formation of necrotic tissue. Macchiato will require a follow up visit at OVC towards the end of November, and adopters should consult with their veterinarian on an annual basis or as needed for any future treatment.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fee is $200 per adult cat, and $250 for kittens (under 8 months old).

This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

Note:
-Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $200.
-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $150 per cat vs. $200 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
