My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Maya and Luna were brought in by their previous owner on November 9, 2024

Why this pet is the one for you:
Say hello to Maya, a true connoisseur of cozy corners and sunny spots! Maya arrived with her best friend, Luna #930941 and they will need to be adopted together! This beautiful girl may start off a little shy, but with patience and a comfy setup, you'll see her personality bloom into that of a perfectly balanced, social feline. Maya has already proven her versatility as a roommate, having lived with a dog and done wonderfully-a truly impressive feat for any cat looking to share the limelight. While Maya's confidence grows at her own pace, she'll do best with a little extra support in the beginning. Confinement is the key to success here: setting her up with a secure space (and a sturdy top-loading cat carrier for safe transport) will help her feel at ease until she's ready to make the whole house her domain. Before long, you'll find her lounging around like she owns the place, occasionally checking in on you with a laid-back glance as she claims every sunbeam in sight. Once she's comfortable, Maya's all about the good life. So, if you're in the market for a mellow, well-rounded companion with a knack for finding the softest spots in any room, Maya's ready to bring her serene presence to your home-just give her the time and the setup to show you her charming self.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
