My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Kokoberry was brought in by their previous owner on November 9, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:

Meet Kokoberry, a young bundle of joy who is as sweet as her name. Kokoberry has a zest for life and loves staying active, especially when it comes to playing fetch with tennis balls! This little cutie is full of energy and will keep you entertained with her silly antics and love for belly rubs and attention. Kokoberry has been around cats before, so she could fit well into a home with social feline friends. She has shown interest in other dogs but has had limited exposure to them. With a little patience and proper introductions, she could thrive in a multi-dog household, though she would do best with dogs who match her energy level and respect her space. When it comes to food, Kokoberry can be a little "food-focused." She has shown some resource guarding behaviors around her bowl, particularly with cats or young children. With proper management (separate feedings, using crates or baby gates), this behavior can be managed. She would thrive in a home with no children or with children 10 and older who can respect her boundaries and listen to coaching from adults. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you on your toes, play fetch with you for hours, and loves getting some TLC, Kokoberry might just be the companion for you! Could you be the one to give her the energetic, fun-filled home she's been waiting for?

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
