Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Dex!
Age: Golden Oldie
Weight: 12 lbs (and trying to gain some)
Good with: kids (I live with two small humans) and other dogs. I haven’t met any cats yet.
House trained: yes, I bark at the door when I need to go out.
Crate trained: yes
Nice to meet you, I’m Dex! I ended up in rescue when my former owners could no longer keep me. My foster mom says I’m “easy peasy.” You can find me either snoozing in a dog bed or following the humans around. I do tend to get underfoot sometimes – especially in the kitchen! I like being by the humans and I like food.
Although I’m a senior guy, I don’t have any known health issues. My hearing and vision both are a bit limited, but I get around just fine and it adds to my charm. I got a dental when I first ended up in rescue and given my small size, my jaw was fractured during the procedure. I’m all healed up now, but my foster parents feed me canned food- partly because I don’t have any teeth and partly because they say I should put on some weight. As a shih tzu, I need to be groomed once awhile to keep looking my best.
I’m generally a pretty quiet guy, but I bark when I need to go outside and when I want to come back in. I usually sleep in my crate at night and when my foster family is out of the house. I don’t mind it! But I probably don’t need to be crated. I have good house manners. I enjoy walking around the back yard and short walks, but I don’t need a lot of exercise.
Hope to meet you soon!

Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee.
-Applications with incomplete information will not be processed.
- All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative.
- All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam.
- None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone.
- You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. The adopter must agree to never attempt to sell or rehome the dog at any point.
Our goal is to place our seniors into permanent, loving homes for the rest of their golden years.
