A volunteer writes: If you've seen me in the last two weeks, then you've heard me talk about Kayla. I can't help it. Ever since I met this larger than life princess, I haven't been able to get my mind off of her! She's hard to miss, an eighty plus pound land manatee, who's sides spill over her bed at times. She is always patiently waiting for her turn for a walk, often lounging quietly in her kennel. When she comes out, she is happier than a clam, so excited for a walk, eager to get distance between herself and the shelter. If you happen to stop on the walk, she will flop over, demanding belly rubs, all four legs up in the air. She squirms and squirms, smiling ear to ear (which is big smile, considering her xxl noggin) and if you stop rubbing her tummy, she squirms again until you resume. Even during her intake she was flopping around on the ground exposing her belly to anyone that would rub it. Kayla is the type of dog that makes me happy to be with her, and has me looking forward to the next time I can see her again.
Kayla has lived the last few years in a autobody garage, in the yard during the day and in the building at night. Unfortunately, the business was being sold and that meant she was out of a home. She's noted to be tolerant and playful with adults and children and doesn't have any handling issues. She's described as social, active, affectionate, playful and very loyal. She's accustomed to long walks and loves car rides. She knows the cues "feeding time" and "come." Dog biscuits are her favorite treat. Though Kayla has no known previous experience with other dogs, she is noted to be wiggly and loose in gate greets. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 82.8 Age: 3yrs 1mths 0wks
