My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wesley Crusher!

Age: 13 years
Weight: 13 lbs
Breed: Chihuahua Mix

I'm a sweet, senior guy looking for a cozy home where I can relax and enjoy my golden years. I may be missing a few teeth (okay, maybe a lot), but that doesn't stop me from enjoying dry food and treats! I know how to sit for my snacks, and I'm working on perfecting my bathroom habits and manners.

New things can make me a little anxious, so I need slow and calm introductions, but once I'm comfortable, I'm all yours! I love snuggling up in bed and may even get closer as I get to know you better. While I’m quiet most of the time, I’ve just started barking when a new person arrives—just a little shout out to say “hello!”

I get along well with other dogs and did great with two fur-friends my first week in rescue. I like to make my mark in the yard, but I don’t stay outside for long. And even though I may slip out of a collar, I’m best in a harness for walks or adventures.

I haven’t met cats or children yet, but I’m open to testing it out!

If you think I’d be a good fit for your home, fill out an application at:

Let’s make this old soul’s final chapter the best one yet. ❤️

More about this rescue

Umbrella of Hope exists to rescue, rehibilitate, and rehome animals from shelter situations with a focus on East Contra Costa County, California. Our goal is to reduce the euthanasia of adoptable animals through increased adoptions of those animals already born. Help increase public safety by reducing the number of strays and feral animals through population control who might carry disease or pose other dangers to the community. Provide resources to pet owners to enable them to be responsible forever guardians of their companion animals. To increase public awareness of homeless pets, encourage spay and neuter of companion animals, and promote adoption for the acquisition of family pets.
