Tootsie is a beautiful female Calico kitten who was brought to HSOV on May 17, 2024 after she was found in the Whipple Ohio area without her mother in sight. Tootsie was a teeny 6-day old kitten at that time who desperately needed a miracle in order for her to survive.
As it turned out, fate was on Tootsie's side ...
There was a nursing mother cat (Tiffy) in our shelter who had given birth to six kittens on May 12th (which happened to be on Mother's Day). We were so happy for this young mother who adored her newborn kittens ... But our excitement turned to sorrow when five of her beautiful babies passed away over the next few weeks. Only one of Tiffy's babies survived (a little Calico girl named Pixie). Tiffy continued to be a good momma to Pixie ..
Our compassionate HSOV kennel techs quickly placed Tootsie with momma Tiffy .. And their hearts were full when Tiffy immediately began giving Tootsie a 'bath' and began to nurse her. Tiffy accepted that tiny orphaned kitten (Tootsie) with 'open paws' and lovingly raised her with her biological kitten Pixie.
Tootsie has a black-and-beige medium-haired with subtle white/cream highlights, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable kitten face with golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long white whiskers.
Tootsie and Pixie were lovingly raised by their mother Tiffy and were separated from her in early August 2024 after they were fully weaned. Pixie and Tootsie are bestest friends and have their very own 'apartment' (a double-wide cage in The Jungle Room) where they play to their heart's content before snuggling up for a catnap together.
Tootsie was given vaccinations and Pyrantel wormer on September 14, 2024. She was given booster vaccines on October 2nd- and October 17, 2024.
These photos of Tootsie were taken on October 10, 2024 in our 'studio' while she posed amidst the fall foliage and tiny pumpkins like a model for 'Kitten Fancy Magazine'. Tootsie weighed 3.4 lbs that day.
Tootsie and Pixie are very bonded with each other, so we feel that it is in their best interest to find a home together. They will be spayed before being adopted by their new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized).
Update: Tootsie and Pixie have adoptions pending as of November 6, 2024 .. together of course!!
