My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet George Washington! 🐾

This lovable goofball has no idea he’s a 4-year-old adult dog — George thinks he’s still a tiny puppy who definitely belongs on your lap! 🐶💛

George is a BIG Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle mix. And we mean big — he’s a whopping 78 pounds of pure love! Despite his size, he’s house-trained and fantastic at meeting people, though he may greet you with an excited jump! 🐕✨

George has experience living with small children and other dogs, and he’s done well with both. His poodle mix coat means he’ll need regular grooming and brushing to keep him looking his best, plus some extra care to keep those ears clean. ✂️🐩🧼

If you're ready for a big-hearted (and big-bodied) buddy who thinks he’s your forever lap dog, George might be your perfect match! 💖🏡

George's adoption fee is $225, he is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, flea & tick treated and microchipped. You can apply online for them at https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=sr2794&method=online_form_html&formid=21 OR stop in to the shelter 12- 5pm Tuesday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption.

Take advantage of our foster-to-adopt program, where you can take any dog 4 mos and older home for a week to make sure it is a good fit before committing to adoption.
