My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cawing with joy!

Hi there! I’m Crow, a 6-month-old, 30-pound bundle of love and playfulness. I’m a neutered male Doodle with a twist—I was born blind and have some wobbly paws thanks to a little neurological condition. But don’t let that fool you—I’m still pawsitively full of energy and mischief! I may not be able to see, but I sure know how to keep up with my two-legged and four-legged pals. I’m currently working on my bathroom, leash, and crate training.

My foster family’s been teaching me all sorts of things, like what’s going on around me—thanks to a blind dog specialist, I’ve learned that words can be my eyes, and I love hearing what’s going on. I’m a curious, cuddly little guy who’s always up for a snuggle or a game. My love language? Treats, toys, and lots of attention. I’m squeak-tacular at playing with things that make noise, and I’m a pro at scent-sational explorations. I may be blind, but my other senses are sharp as a tack! I love to chase after my 9- and 11-year-old human siblings, and I’m always game for a round of squeaky toy fetch or some good ol’ wrestling with my doggy friends.

I’m a social guy and would be happiest in a home with other dogs or kids to keep me busy and entertained. If you’re patient, loving, and ready for a special bond with a pup who may not have vision but has all the heart, I could be the perfect match for your family. Plus, I’ll teach you a thing or two about empathy, patience, and seeing the world through new eyes and definitely ears, paws, and a heart that’s as big as my spirit! If you’re ready for a lifetime of love, cuddles, and learning together, I’m ready to steal your heart. My adoption fee is $800 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
