Meet the Pet
This helps Piedmont Animal Rescue with pet care costs.
Meet Simone! She is a gorgeous brown tabby with beautiful deep orange colors throughout her fur. She is trying her best to adjust to everyday life because of all that she has been through. Simone has had to adjust to several different rescues, no fault of her own. Hurricane Helene had something to do with her coming to PAR since we were taking adoptable animals in from other shelters to make room for animals that had been displaced by the storm. We are honored that she has come to PAR and has a soft loving place with us.
Simone is currently being cared for by a foster which has given her time to decompress, feel freedom from being locked up and finally getting all the attention. Since coming into the shelter system, she has spent her young life in a crate or enclosure which means freedom to roam was foreign to her. Since being with her foster and being able to socialize with other kitties, she has learned how to play, explore, enjoy lots of love, pets and what fun cat trees are. She needs time to decompress in her new home which also means being able to hide out for a few days to get used to the new smells and sounds. This sweet girl deserves so much love and kindness, not to mention, a place where she can learn what it means to belong to someone. We have a video that shows just how incredibly sweet she is, you can request it by sending a message. You will also noticed a couple of photos where she is laying on her back and side. When you pet her she just can't get enough of it and doesn't know what to do with herself. She purrs loudly, makes biscuits and rolls over.
Update: From her foster: "Simone had a new friend come visit today, his name is Bob, It's just what Simone needed. As much as Simone is enjoying freedom, she misses companionship and loves having another kitty around. She chose to go into the 2nd floor of a two story enclosure just so she could get a good look at Bob inside his. Bob stayed in an exclosure overnght when he first arrived just so he could feel safe. Simone never left the second story of her condo, even though all the doors were left open. She enjoyed having a sleepover a lot! Having a companion, it made a world of difference with Simone, she was excited and seemed more upbeat having Bob around. I really do believe that Simone would do well with a companion cat or kitten as long as the other feline was not aggressive. Even though Simone has never shown aggression, I still respect certain things until I know for sure she is comfortable. For example, I've tried picking her up and she grabs a hold of whatever she is on and stiffens up so I don't tug at her, I let go of her and don't force anything. And even though she rolls over, I don't pet her belly because I want her to enjoy just the top body, face and head rubs she seems to enjoy so much. SHe is going to make someone an amazing companion and hopefully she will have a friend to play with as well in her new home. I am alread in love with this sweetheart."
Simone would not do well at an adoption event so if you would like to meet her, you can put in an application and once approved you can request a meet and greet.
