My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This black and tan bunny is as sweet as she is beautiful! Naya came to us as an owner surrender, and after she arrived we saw immediately that she was severely overweight. She had clearly been overfed pellets (and probably treats as well), causing her body to increase greatly in girth and plumpness. A rabbit of her frame and breed (Dutch/Harlequin mix) should weigh about 4-5 pounds - Naya weighed over 8 pounds! As this is a dangerously high weight she was immediately started on a weight loss/fitness regimen. We cut back her pellets, encouraging her to eat more Timothy hay and fresh veggies instead, and her foster mom makes sure that she gets extra free roam time so that she can bounce around the house and get exercise. With these measures, Naya has already lost 2 pounds!

Naya would be a great bunny for just about anyone. She loves to get pets and will sit next to you as long as you keep petting her. Naya enjoys human company and is very curious about her surroundings. She will stand on her hind legs to get your attention and to make sure she doesn’t miss anything. Her favorite chew toy is palm leaf plates, and she also enjoys tossing her stackable cups around while searching for her favorite treat - given in moderation, of course! Naya is very happy with her new waistline and activity level, and if you decide to take this sweet girl into your home, we ask that you continue to help her along on her weight loss journey.

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
