My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Floof Nugget is a one of a kind 5-8-year-old, 14-pound male mix from NYACC overflowing with love and a gorgeous underbite (Teefers alert!!)

He has adjusted very well during his time with his foster family in the city. Floof Nugget enjoys going outside for walks and cuddling (on top of) his person on the couch, and playing with his super hyper 1yo foster puppy sister. Don't let his scruffy look fool you, he's actually silky soft!

He knows “sit” and is learning leash manners (he is only guilty of pulling and he's learning heel). He does fine meeting other dogs on walks but is sometimes reactive to human males and some runners. Floof will need slow introductions to men as he is particularly cautious around them. He is a good listener and treat motivated so he enjoys and flourishes with training. His new family will do well with reinforcing the current progress he is making in foster.

At first he had a few accidents but he has gotten the hang of holding it for walks outside. His new family will need to help him adjust to a new home and get him on a schedule for walkies.

Floof is an incredibly low key, loving and sweet pup but does need his forever family to continue working on his separation anxiety. It will be important to reinforce independence and eliminate his fear of being left alone.

Floof loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found playing with a crinkly toy or enjoying a chew treat. Floof is looking for a quiet low key family. He appreciates downtime and can be happily active once trust is fully established. Early on he was very mistrusting of abrupt movements.

He will happily be a solo dog but definitely enjoys the company of other dogs at home too.

We would recommend Floof go to a home with older or no children. He is very cautious of fast movements and touching - small humans would stress him out.

Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Floof Nugget, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

STEP 1: Apply!
Download and complete an ADOPTION APPLICATION from www.waggytailrescue.org/adopt-a-waggytail

STEP 2: The Meet and Greet!
We strongly suggest the ALL members of the household come to the meet and greet. This is the time to determine whether a dog's personality is match for you, your family and your other animals, and if you have allergies. If everything goes well you may adopt the same day, or take a day or two to decide, but we cannot indefinitely hold dogs in foster care for you.

STEP 3: Contract and Donation!
Fill out and sign the TRANSFER AGREEMENT.

The DONATION FEE may be paid by Venmo (@WaggytailRescue) or Paypal (waggytailrescue@gmail.com, add $15 processing fee). Please put the name of the dog in the memo section! Electronic payment is preferred!
You may also pay by check (payable to Waggytail Rescue), however processing of adoptions may be delayed by up to 2 weeks.
If your new buddy is not yet neutered, a $100 refundable deposit must be paid at adoption.

Dog Donation Fees
(includes microchip registration, age appropriate vaccines, and neuter)

$550 for puppies under 1 year
$450 for dogs 1 to 8 years
$325 for seniors over 9 years of age

Please add an additional $15 when paying by PayPal to cover processing fees.
