Cindy Lu is the sweetest, one year old, 12 pound Shih Tzu mix with beautiful white silky soft hair. Her life is all about playing with toys. She loves to take the toys out of the toy box, carry them to her rug to play with, and always surrounds herself with her toys. She has not quite figured out the concept of fetch and is very confused why her foster mom would throw the toy AWAY from her! She enjoys standing on the arm of the couch and watching out the window. Cindy Lu is a cuddle bug and loves to sit on your lap or near you for a good belly rub. For a one year old dog, she’s actually quite mellow. However she does get the zoomies after going out for her morning potty. She would love an interactive doggie playmate but could also do well as an only dog. She’s working on potty training and seems to like going in a safe, small potty area in the yard as opposed to eliminating while on walks. She thinks walks are for entertainment only! She would do best with a family who is home most of the day and who will include her in their daily activities. Cindy Lu is such a good puppy who deserves a perfect home and family. In order to ensure that, here are the requirements that her foster mom requires for her new family:
1. Because Cindy Lu is only one year old and Shih Tzu’s often live 16+ years, applications will only be considered from age appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the care and activity she needs for the rest of her life.
2. Cindy Lu would like an active family/owner that will walk her daily, be home most of the day, and make her a part of their everyday life. 3. She would enjoy a home with another small dog who will help her learn by being a role model and friend. However, she would also do well as an only dog.
4. A family that works from home or is home most of the day would be ideal for her.
5. An active, adults only family is preferred, although a family with children over the age of ten will be considered based upon the children’s experience with a small dog.
6. Cindy Lu will definitely want to sleep in bed with her new family as she loves to cuddle and be close to her people. 7. Her new family should live within the 30 miles of Shoreview, MN and commit to attending the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each September.
We understand these are specific requirements for Cindy Lu’s new family. But if they describe you, you will have abundant joy with this cute, funny, special girl.
Cindy Lu is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $420.00 plus $35.81 in sales tax for a total of $455.81.
To meet Cindy Lu, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at the Southtown Petco in Bloomington.

Their adoption process
Additional adoption info
The first part of the adoption process is to submit an APPLICATION FOR ADOPTION online at www.shihtzurescuemn.org.
Once you have completed and submitted the application, it will be reviewed by an application committee who will decide if it is an appropriate application for one of our Shih Tzus or for a particular dog in which you are interested.
The application gives us an idea of your living situation, your family, your lifestyle, and what you are really looking for in a companion. As everyone knows, the requirements and expectations for dogs all vary, and like humans, each one has its own character and personality. With regards to dogs, some are mellow and just need a place where they can be a companion to people and relax and live out their lives. Others are more active or like the companionship of another dog. But they all need to be in homes where they are understood and loved unconditionally.
After reviewing the adoption application, an adoption coordinator will call for a phone interview to chat further about the dog and you. Upon completion of the phone interview we check your references to make sure that you are, in fact, who you represent yourself to be as both a person and prospective dog parent.
The next step is to verify your living situation. Once again, all dogs have different requirements, an example being that some dogs really need to go to homes where a fenced yard is available, whereas others are fine without a fenced yard. We also need to make sure that you are the owner of the home that you reside in, and if you are not, then we need to get consent from your landlord that the dog you are looking to adopt will be allowed in your home.
Finally, we will do a visit to your home, where all family members must be present, and you will get to meet the dog you are considering. Hopefully the visit will tell us that this is the match we hope it will be! At that point, if it is true love, then you may welcome your fantastic new Shih Tzu into your home for the beginning of what we are certain will be a wonderful, loving forever relationship. Please understand that it is the decision of the foster parent as to whether the family, home and dog are an appropriate match.
We require that you sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee for the dog. All dogs adopted from us are fully vetted (vaccinated, heartworm tested, dewormed (if necessary), and spayed/neutered). The adoption fee is based on the age of the dog and ranges from $100 to $400.
