My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Paisley!

Paisley came into our care with a broken leg and pelvis that is still healing. She was hit by a car and our vets worked their hardest to save her leg and we succeeded! She is well into recovery and now looking for a foster to adopt who can help her on her journey to forever.

Paisley is about as sweet as they come, loves her people, is quick to give kisses to everyone she meets, and gets along well with other dogs. Now that she is mostly healed, she loves to run and play again. Paisley is a very high energy dog that will need a home that can provide a lot of enrichment.

She loves the outdoors, but Paisley is also a great home office companion and likes to stay entertained with food enrichment such as stuffed Kong's and bones.

Paisley will require daily medication and more vet visits going forward and will need an adopter with a flexible schedule.

Paisley has developed some reactivity towards cars and bicycles, and will need an adopter that can use Animal Kind training techniques to work on this with her. In the meantime, Paisley would do best with an adopter that is fit and strong to help manage the behaviour, and ideally lives in a quiet neighbourhood.

Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Paisley's person? Apply today!

TIP: We strongly suggest all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
