My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh boy - we have a dreamy guy to introduce you to! We're calling him LOKI and he's estimated to be 5 years young💙
Could he be a Silver Lab mix? Maybe have a little Weimaraner in there? Your guess is as good as ours. What we do know is that his super sweet and silly and full of energy. He also knows some commands✅

Per his former people, he is friendly with all things. If you do have a dog at home, we would require a meet & greet to make sure it's a good match🐶

Scurry on over to meet this handsome guy. We are open daily between 12 - 4:30. If you need to do a dog meet, please ring the shelter office to schedule at 732.922.0100.

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
