My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Montana has just arrived at HSWC all about paws beauty spa. And just in time for a complete make over. This girl is ready for change. She has walked away from a bad relationship and is searching for some feel good moments. And we are setting sail to find her a great match. No more love on the rocks for her. Set the course for true love, pampering, smooth sailing to a furever home ...hopefully we won't have to search as far as Montana to find her a few heros. We know there is a nice family ready to spoil this sweet girl.
You take one look at her and your heart breaks. But she goes with the flow.
We can't say that her spirits are lifted just yet, but the staff and volunteers are trying their best to show her how great life can be with people who really care about her and are devoted to her care.
Come and join the team and be a part of her journey to happy and healthy.
✅We are working on good nutrition to help her skin heal.
✅We cut off the imbedded collar.
✅Her face wound is healing.
Now onto her heart. 💔That might take a bit longer.
She accepts treats so gently like she just can't believe we can be so kind to her. She is 63 pounds and of good weight.
Her eyes have sadness but we know that will change.
She watches all the dogs without a peep. She lets them come right up to the fence and doesn't flinch or back away. She just takes it all in.
We know she will be opening up a lot in the next few weeks as she figures things out. We would love to get her into your home so her heart can open up faster.
☀️We can't wait to see sunshine in those pretty eyes.
Let's work together to get her the best life we can find.
The forever-treat-her-like-a-queen kind of love.
Do you have that kind of love to offer??
She will be a most loyal and loving companion very soon, once her make over is complete.
This is what we do. It's amazing to see the transformation.
Please Join her care team.
Even if you just come and sit with her. Let her know what love is. This will heal your heart as well.
Maybe fall in love and find a new best friend!

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
