Recently, we found this beautiful boy chained to the fence behind my partner’s business dumpster. Not sure how long he had been there. After finding out Lincoln was not vicious, we took him some water. We then removed him and brought him into the building to check him out and get him some food. (The quickest thing I could get was a Wendy’s burger. I know, not good but he loved it.) I then started researching what to do with a found dog. I took him the next day to my vet and he did have a Microchip out of a shelter in Petaluma, CA. The only info they would give me was that his name was Mark, 6 yrs. old, adopted in 2019 by Michael whose phone was disconnected.
Whoever his human was, they did a great job training Lincoln. He sits, stays, speaks, gets down, gets back and walks calmly on a leash. We walk him on the empty lot next door, and he always does his business along the grassy fence line. He’s so polite!
At this point, I don’t know how he is with cats or children. As for dogs, our 2 terriers didn’t like him, but he just stood and looked at them and didn’t react other than being curious. When I took him to my vet, other dogs barked at him, but he just wagged his tail and looked at them.
Because of his long legs and dignified stature, we named him Lincoln…as in Abraham. I don’t think he’s taken to it yet, but he might in time. He is such a delight to have around but we are unable to keep him here. I’m hoping some wonderful person will recognize him or just fall in love and want to take him home.
