My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Speckles is a 11 week old Cattle Dog Mix who will be joining us with his 2 brothers on 11/04/2024 via our TX partner Saving Shelter Strays. the puppies were picked up as strays in a part of town that is sadly full of street dogs. A good samaritan saw them running around an abandoned lot and brought them in to our rescue partner. They are currently in a foster home waiting for their freedom ride to the PNW to find their forever homes.

Foster Update:  Speckles, chubs, wiggle butt, they all describe the cutest, most sweetly tempered puppy. He is an absolute catch! Of all the pups I fostered I have never seen a puppy know boundaries towards other dogs. He doesn't charge and jump at them. He politely sniffs, then minds his manners. If the other dog engages, then he'll play. He takes all body language cues from other dogs. There should be no problem integrating him with any resident dog.  He is amazingly calm in the middle of chaos (think cub scouts pack meeting, and school bell ringing), doesn't spook with loud noises, and loves people of all sizes. He gets excited to walk the kids to school and greet all the bus riders.  Speckles only vocalizes when he needs something, crate trained, and sleeps through the night, 9-10hrs. He goes potty right away when you ask him, but be careful, he'll go on the side walk if you say the command too soon! He is full of energy in the morning and ready to run, but by the end of the day, all he wants to do it snuggle in a warm lap. He is comfortable in all weather, doesn't mind a coat, and loves to go anywhere.
Speckles is, however, working on a bit of confidence. In new environments, he is a bit timid and sticks close to the person walking him. This means he is weaving between your feet, and tripping you up. After a couple minutes of standing still he warms up. It only took 24hrs for Speckles to confidently run through the house and not be afraid of what's behind that corner. This is a typical puppy fear period, and he should grow out of it.
