My story

Monsieur Moo has had a rough start, but his story is one of resilience and survival. Originally from Tucson, Arizona, he was rescued from a dingy garage piled waist-high with trash, feces, and other debris. He suffered from severe neglect, often going without food/water and rarely receiving a kind touch. But thanks to a compassionate civilian with family ties to Animal Rescue of the Rockies, Monsieur Moo was freed from that life and brought to Colorado, where he could finally begin to heal and discover what it means to be truly loved.

Monsieur Moo (Monsieur - French for Mr.) is a posh yet laid-back tuxedo cat with the classic elegance of black and white fur, set off by big, luminous green eyes that seem to express his every thought. He’s a bit on the larger side (just more to love!) but certainly not overweight. His endearing, soft pink belly and matching pink nose give him a slightly cartoonish charm. He's the type of cat who will lounge in the sunlight, showing off his belly with pride, just waiting for his person to admire him.

Monsieur Moo is a gentle soul, loyal and loving to those who show him kindness. Despite his past, he has an incredibly affectionate nature and is eager to make up for the kittenhood he never got to live out. He’s playful and lively, often pouncing after wand toys or tapping at the window to 'talk' to birds outside. His favorite moments are spent bathing in sun puddles, indulging in snuggle sessions, and sharing nose boops and head butts with those he trusts. Though he’s mostly friendly with everyone, he can be reserved around men, likely due to some of the traumatic experiences he went through before his big break. Monsieur Moo is still learning to trust fully, and his foster mom has seen him open up more each day.

Monsieur Moo would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can be the center of attention. Ideally, he would be the only cat, as he’s not yet comfortable around other cats and might always prefer having his humans all to himself. He could potentially live with a gentle dog who respects his space, and he’s open to receiving pets and snuggles from children who are older (around seven and up) and understand his need for patience and gentleness. A family that can respect his boundaries and offer him a stable environment will find in Monsieur Moo a loyal, kind-hearted companion ready to give all the love he has so bravely kept alive through his hardships.

His foster mom would love to tell you more about him, his history, and what his needs are. If you're looking for an independent yet affectionate companion to join your home, Monsieur Moo may be the perfect match for you.

Born in March 2023. Children 9 and over.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!

  • $300 for purebred/highly requested kittens, 6 months or younger, such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coon mixes.  These 'guardian kittens' help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens.
  • $200 for purebred/highly requested cats older than 6 months such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coone mixes.  These 'guardian cats' help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens.
  • $200 for kittens (6 months & under)
  • $125 for cats (older than 6 months)
  • $75 for senior cats (8 years or older)

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application  here . We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email cats@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time.

PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/

Our adoption process is:

1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.

2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
