We adopted Sheila from the GBHS in May 2024, when she was a skin-and-bones 5-month old, spayed the previous day. Her eyes melted our hearts, as they continue to do.
The intention was to add her to our family as in indoor dog. We also have an aging 14-year-old rescue as well as a rescue cat - both of which tend to grudgingly escape her presence and constant attempts to play.
Now she's a very healthy 38lb 10-month-old, solid muscle, and needs much more exercise than we can provide in our late-60's/early 70's. She constantly pulls on a leash, and although she'll "Sit!" on command (even with other dogs passing by), the word "Stay!" barely registers before she leaps up and barks at other dogs, wagging, wanting to play, but still pulling hard on her harness.
While our yard is on a steep slope and chain-link fenced at between 3-4' in height, Sheila cannot be trusted to remain alone even for an extended pee-break without escaping.
Please help us find her a home where she can safely play!
