My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We adopted Sheila from the GBHS in May 2024, when she was a skin-and-bones 5-month-old, spayed the previous day. Her eyes melted our hearts, as they continue to do.

Our intention was to add her to our family as in indoor dog, but now she's a very healthy 38lb 1-yr-old, solid muscle, and needs much more exercise than we can provide in our late-60s & early 70s. She constantly pulls on a leash, and although she sits on command, the word Stay! barely registers before she leaps up and barks at other dogs, wagging and wanting to play, but still pulling hard on her harness. Our yard is on a steep slope with a 3ft chainlink fence, but Sheila can no longer be trusted to exercise on her own without escaping. Her being chipped helps.

We also have an aging 14-year-old dog rescue as well as a rescue cat, both of which grudgingly yield the floor to escape her attempts to play or get attention.

Please help us find her a home where she can safely play and run without pulling us into the street!
