My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Doink is located in Blairstown NJ and has a story to tell

He was found outside at a feral colony.  He was not a regular here.  The feeder noticed that his legs were individually taped all the way up his legs. He was caught and taken to the shelter.  The tape was removed, and the damage was revealed.

The wounds on his legs have healed since being in foster care.  There was also some damage to his tail and that has been treated and is healing as well.  Doink went for a surgery consult on his left leg and our suspicion was confirmed.  He has a damaged Achilles Tendon.  Surgery is not recommended at this time as he is able to go about life the way he is.  He is not in pain, and he has no sores.  It is very possible that as he grows, he will need to have it repaired OR possibly become a tripod.

With all that this baby has been through, Doink is something special.  He has a major purring issue.  He just can't stop purring.  He loves his people and will lovingly play with you and follow you around.  He is a snuggler and will roll around playing with toys and wand toys. You can just hold him forever and he will let you.

Doink is not a big fan of other cats right now.  He is being introduced slowly to the rest of the kitty crew.  He hisses at them but will then walk away and go about his business.  We are hoping that with time this will change.

More about this rescue

OMC! (Only Maine Coons Rescue) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

We are a 100% volunteer-run/breed-specific rescue group that specializes in the Maine Coon Cat breed. We rescue Maine Coon Cat / Kitten mixes from shelters and unwanted situations. On occasion, we rescue purebred (PB) Maine Coon Cat / Kitten(s).

In addition all of our cats are lovingly cared for in Foster homes until they are placed into their “furrever” homes.

We are a close-knit group who all work together to make adoptions happen as quickly as possible, and to ensure a happy ending for the coonie and the new adopter.
