If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Ceniza first appeared in our backyard around mid-August, very hungry and tiny. She was quick to eat what we gave her, and since then, she would continuously arrive early in the morning and disappear for a few hours, never failing to show up for another feeding. Eventually, she would not leave our backyard and waited patiently for whoever stepped foot outside.
Throughout all of this, Ceniza has shown to be wary of other pets. She is quick to allow us to pet or pick her up, but with our own pet, she would hiss and hit him. She was scared of him, but he was eager to meet her.
We decided to take her to the Aurora Animal Care and Control Center, which we then formally adopted her from in the hopes that the spay they performed on her would make her more open to other pets. Unfortunately, she still does not get along with our own pet. She is very calm, sweet, and playful, but she needs to be in a household that has no other pets. She is fully vaccinated and spayed.
