Introducing Pepper!

Playful Sweetheart Energetic Social

Personality: Pepper is a lively, affectionate Great Dane with a big heart and boundless energy! She is known for her sweet disposition and a playful spirit that makes every day an adventure. Though she can be a bit timid when meeting new people, she warms up quickly, especially when given a little encouragement and attention. Pepper is the ultimate cuddle buddy, always ready to snuggle up with her favorite humans, and she loves being close—sometimes very close!

Socialness: Pepper has a friendly and curious personality, making her well-loved by everyone she meets. She’s especially comfortable with teenagers and enjoys the company of other dogs, particularly at the dog park where she can run and play freely. While she hasn't had much experience around younger children, her sweet nature suggests she would likely be a good fit with gentle and considerate introductions. Her interactions with cats are unknown, so any future feline friends would need to be introduced slowly and carefully to ensure a smooth transition.

Likes & Dislikes: Pepper loves being active and her favorite outings are trips to the dog park where she can run off some of her energy and make new friends. She also adores cuddling, playing with her doggie siblings, and being around people who give her lots of attention. Pepper is not a fan of being left alone for too long and may become a bit destructive if left to free roam for extended periods.

Training: Pepper has mastered several commands, including “sit,” “paw,” “lay down,” and “come.” She is crate-trained, housebroken, and can be trusted with free roam, though longer absences may be a bit difficult for her. While she has a solid foundation in basic commands, Pepper is still working on respecting personal space and honing her manners—perfect tasks for an owner who’s committed to continued training.

Health: She has a condition known as cherry eye in her right eye, and a mild case in her left. Other than that, she’s a healthy, happy Great Dane with no major issues. Pepper is ready to live her best life and bring joy to a loving home.

Forever Home Requirements: Pepper’s ideal home would include a mid-to-large-sized yard where she can play and run off her energy, but a physical fence isn’t a requirement. She would thrive in an environment with people who are willing to provide her with the attention she craves while continuing to guide her on manners and personal space. A family with another dog or older children would be wonderful, as Pepper is social and eager for companionship.

Pepper is an affectionate, playful, and gentle giant who will bring boundless joy, cuddles, and laughter to her forever family. Her big heart is a perfect match for her big size, and she’s ready to share it with her forever home! More about this rescue

Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue was started in 2008 by a group of Dane lovers who desire to help Danes in need. The rescue is made up of all volunteers who lovingly give of their time and money to help these wonderful dogs. Volunteers include people from every walk of life, all with one thing in common, love of Great Danes.

Each animal coming to the rescue is temperament tested, given a physical, vaccinated, wormed, checked for heartworm and tick borne illnesses and treated as needed. All dogs are sterilized before being re homed. The dog is then placed in a foster home to wait for someone to love it forever.
