When our rescue partners down south declare they have a favorite canine then you know you have a special dog coming to Connecticut. Meet Rowan, at 1 ½ years old, weighing 58 pounds. He is so handsome and is a German Shepherd mix. Just look at that face. He has a longish coat of tan, brown, and black.
Rowan was surrendered because his owners had to move and could not take him with them. He is a gentle soul, very well mannered, good with other dogs, not destructive in his kennel and is comfortable with children. It is not known if he has ever met a cat.
He is house trained (Please remember that even trained dogs can have some accidents as they adjust to new surroundings and routines). Rowan also walks great on a leash. It is not known if he has ever used a crate.
Shepherd mixes are known for their intelligence, love of human interaction, patience, energy, and alertness. They like to take long walks or runs and have play time in between. Shepherds love activity and being around their family. Of course, being a mix means that Rowan also has other positive personality traits.
At home he will also benefit from mental stimulation in the form of activities and play toys. That will help keep him from being bored.
A secure back yard will give him free time to play and burn off extra energy. He probably would enjoy visits to a local dog park, too.
Are you willing to take on the task of helping Julian transition to a new life? If, yes, read on.
