My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Apache was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on October 28, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Apache, the big boy with a heart so huge it could rival his paws! This handsome fella is on the lookout for a loving home where he can settle in and soak up all the affection he can get. Having come to us as a stray, we're still uncovering the layers of this sweet pup-think of it as "pawsitive" exploration! So far, we have discovered that Apache is a cuddle bug who absolutely adores playing with and carrying around his toys! He can also be a little intrusive with other dogs, so make sure to bring any pup in the home along to meet Apache prior to taking him home! Due to his excitable nature, he will do best in a home without children under the age of 8. Apache will need a patient human to help refresh his basic obedience skills, but with a little love and guidance, he's bound to be a tail-wagging superstar! If you're ready for a dog who's not just a catch but a whole treasure chest of cuddles, Apache is here to "paws" your search! Let's get this love train rolling!

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
