Meet Chalk - this girl is potty trained and learning all sort of cue words for lifelong learning and being her best self. She knows sit, lay down, wait, drop it, look, hush/quiet, leave it, and more. She is a great walker, car rider, and loves going on adventures. Chalk weighs 82lbs at 13 months old and is estimated to grow another approximately 5-10 lbs. as she fills out. Chalk loves having a dog buddy - or multiple! - around. She has become the best sister to her 3 foster-siblings and easily becomes best buds with the other fosters that she has seen come and go (getting their furever home). She is a cautious girl though, so especially adult dogs that are her size or larger may just take a little longer for her to feel comfortable around. Chalk may also take a little time to show her true, fun and goofy self to new, adult humans but once you’re in her circle, she will be the best cuddle bug, hiking, or road trip partner. If you give her a chance to acclimate and get to know you, she will be your most loyal companion! Chalk has been working with a Certified Professional Dog Trainer for the past few months to continue boosting her confidence - and would love a human companion willing to keep helping her progress boom! Because of her cautiousness, she has been known to lunge and bark at other dogs occasionally when they are too close in distance, but she is quickly learning that seeing dogs = good things are coming, and her foster parents are noticing a significant drop in Chalk’s fearful body language and need to react each week! This just means her ideal human would also prefer to avoid dog parks and day cares - but with continued conditioning, Chalk could easily be a brewery dog. Her foster parents still find it easy to navigate taking her to public parks and trails, sometimes just having to step off paths and avoiding stranger dog interactions on-leash. To clarify, Chalk is not aggressive - just insecure like most German Shepherd mixes - and needs continued training and building her confidence. Chalk has the most amazing trainer, and she would love to keep her training and relationship with her trainer. Adopting her will come with a virtual Initial Consultation and 4 In-Home Private Training Sessions with her trainer for her continued learning to be a fear-free and a more confident dog. We all have room for improvement, and she needs a human that will help her be her bestest self!
Her foster mom's favorite things: Chalk wants to be everywhere with you - but not underfoot, just near you. If Im in the bathroom, she's lying on the mat. If I'm on the couch, she's on the couch, could be next to me with a paw on my lap or at the other end, but she's there. If I'm outside, she's definitely coming outside to play and explore. She is inquisitive, silly, loving, and smart. She loves sticking her head out the car window and going on adventures. I love making her happy! • Good with children • Housetrained

Soul Dog is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization founded with the mission to spay/neuter and protect animals. We are currently a small group of committed volunteers making a difference in the life of one animal at a time. As an all volunteer administration, all donations made to Soul Dog go directly to improving the health of the pets that share our lives.

We travel to rural communities on Native American reservations, where spaying and neutering will only happen if it is nearly free or very convenient.
