My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

  • 6 years old (estimated)
  • Spayed female
  • Sweet girl who loves toys
  • Knows "sit," "paw," and walks well on leash
  • Looking for a home without other pets
  • No known experience with children
  • Appears to be housetrained

I’m the ultimate princess and professional cuddle bug! I have a serious love for my toys—I carry them around like they're my little babies, and sometimes I even hide them in the yard (a girl needs her secrets, right?). I adore every person I meet and am known for my good manners and gentle ways. I walk beautifully on a leash, know how to sit and shake paw, and am always up for treats (which I take ever so gently!). I’m looking for a loving home where I can be your one and only pet. Belly rubs, playtime, and a cozy spot by your side are all I need to be one happy pup!

I have been waiting a while to find my home so my adopter can name their own adoption fee when they take me home!

The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

An adoption application must be completed. Home ownership verification or landlord/condo association approval is required. For dogs, if there are any dogs currently living in the home, a scheduled and supervised interaction with the prospective dog is required. Additional requirements may apply depending upon the individual animal.

Upon adoption, the adopter is required to sign a contract agreeing to provide the animal with the care and medical treatment he or she needs throughout his or her life. They also must agree to provide the animal with an indoor home and if at any point in the animal's life the adopter is unable to keep the animal, the animal must be returned to the shelter.

More about this shelter

The HSJC is located in Jefferson, Wisconsin and is a small, privately run non-profit shelter that has been in operation since 1922. We recently celebrated our 90th year of caring for dogs, cats, birds and other small animals in need. Each year, close to 1,000 pets find sanctuary at our shelter. We put forth great effort to reunite owners with lost pets and to find good new homes for those who need a second chance. We do not impose a time limit on how long a healthy, adoptable animal may stay with us as they wait to be adopted.
