My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Where are all of our Pomeranian-loving folks?! Introducing Dusty!

Dusty is a 1-year-old adult neutered male Pomeranian. He weighs 17 pounds. He is the epitome of a lap dog. He's also a "Velcro dog" and isn't happy unless he is right by your side. Dusty is incredibly affectionate and will sleep right next to you in bed.

Despite his love of lap-sitting and snuggling, he's also a very spunky boy. He has lots of energy and adores playing with his foster mom's other dogs! He is vocal which is typical of his breed, but more so when he wants your attention or is trying to alert you that he needs to go outside or wishes to come back in.

Dusty is making great strides with house training. Since being neutered, he is no longer lifting his leg and has no accidents as long as he's taken out to potty regularly.

Dusty would be fine in a home with cats or dogs, but we will only allow him to be adopted into a home with older kids.

More about this rescue

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, and no monies from national humane organizations or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations. The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. We value every animal equally and consider all to be priceless
