Everyone, please meet Gus Gus!
This handsome fellow was taken by animal control from terrible conditions, where he was being used as a bait dog, living at the end of a heavy chain that was so tight on his neck, it had to be cut off, and whose poor body was riddled with cuts, scars, scabs, and open wounds. The cruelty of people blows my mind and absolutely sickens me.
He has been with us for almost a week, and as one might expect, he came terrified of everything. Us, the dogs, the grass, neighbor kids outside playing, the TV, carpet...the list goes on. I don't think this guy has ever had another living creature be kind to him.
BUT...he's coming around more every day. His legs are healing. He's getting braver, no longer scared to eat and is gobbling up his food. He ventured onto the couch for the first time last night. Greets us with tail wags and joy in his face. Dogs are so resilient, it's a beautiful things to watch.
Gus Gus is a little underweight at 60 lbs, 1 year old, and is doing well with my resident dogs. He is scared but is doing well with us and my kids. He is so sweet and has not had any accidents in this house since his first night. He is on med hold while he finishes up meds for his wounds. He is neutered and microchipped.
