My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Tocinowas brought into care by community member..

At SDHS:
Tocino has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

Why is Tocino the one for you?
If you visit Tocino, you will probably find him standing up on his kennel door hoping that you have come to take him out for a walk or play. He will be in a hurry to be leashed because he is house trained and he likes to go for walks and meet other dogs. His tail will be wagging, his ears will perk up and his nicely shaped eyebrows with raise up. All that means he is ready and let's go. He will need additional training to keep him from jumping on people and barking. He is food motivated so it should be easy to reward and guide him to good behaviors. He will do best with a dog savvy owner who understand the importance of a training program and sticks to it. He will want lots of walks because he likes them. He'll also want a quiet house with his owner willing to share the sofa and maybe even the bed. Interested? Come to our shelter and ask to see the tail wagging Tocino with perky ears. >

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
