My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on 11/1/24.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Chip is a small, middle-aged dog who came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about his past. His condition upon arrival suggested he hasn't had an easy life, but he's shown resilience and kindness since being with us. Chip got along well with the dogs in his finder's home, but he's a bit shy around new people and can be reactive, barking at strangers as he adjusts. With patience and a calm environment, Chip will likely open up and become a loyal companion.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
