Meet Bertha, now affectionately called Girlie, a resilient 5-year-old mastiff who was saved at the last minute from euthanasia at the city shelter. This low-riding, 92-pound sweetheart is spayed and heartworm negative, making her ready for a loving home.

Girlie is friendly with large dogs and cats, though she’s not a big fan of tiny dogs. She’s wonderful with kids and does great on a leash, showing no reactivity. Potty training has been successfully accomplished, so she’s ready to be your perfect housemate.

One of Girlie’s favorite activities is playing with water. She loves to jump and catch the stream from the garden hose in her mouth. She’s also a big fan of belly rubs and will happily roll over for them, embodying the true spirit of a house hippo.

If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion who’s great with kids and other large pets, Girlie could be the perfect addition to your family. She’s ready to bring joy and love into her forever home.

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity.
