Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Zesty, a 10-week-old kitten with a personality that belies his name. He's not the wild, spicy character you might expect, but rather a mellow, playful, and friendly feline. Zesty loves to engage in games of chase-the-laser, but is equally content to lounge around, purring softly. He's a social butterfly, eager to make friends with both humans and other pets. Despite his young age, Zesty has a mature understanding of personal space and respect. He's not your typical kitten; he's a bundle of joy and tranquility rolled into one. Adopt Zesty and experience the unique blend of zest and zen that only he can bring to your home.
Zesty is neutered and up to date on all of his core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. If you are interested, stop in or give us a call at 740-314-5583! Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!
ADOPTION APPLICATION: All adoption applications are completed at the shelter unless otherwise noted.

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
