My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pimento - Your Personal Pumpkin Pal 🎃

🍂 At just 11 months old, Pimento is ripe for adventure! 🚨🐕

Though this pup is all about loyalty and protection, he's got a spicy side when it comes to cats. 🐈❌ Best to keep the feline frights out of this pumpkin patch. But with humans and their inner circle, Pimento is a big ol' cuddle squash, soaking up attention like the autumn sun. ☀️💛

Pimento has displayed some signs of prey drive and would also not do well in a home with small children. He can also be nervous of people when he is on his walks but he warms up quickly with a slow introduction. Fear Free training on walks will go a long way in improving this behaviour.

If you need a trusty fall sidekick who will love you fiercely, Pimento is here to keep your heart warm and your home safe. 🍁 Ready to scoop up this seasonal sweetheart? Just remember: no cats allowed! 🐾

Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.

More about this shelter

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
