My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A HAPPY & SWEET FELLOW:  Approx. 7 - 8 months old / Approx. 32 lbs. & growing

Hello – I’m Calhoun!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control along with a sibling.  What was a handsome, sleek pup like me doing there?  After arriving at Mostly Mutts, and having my medical needs met, I got to spend a little time in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot.  Now I’m back at Mostly Mutts waiting to find my new family!  I hope to meet them soon!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came to Mostly Mutts with my littermate, and we get along very well.  I also met dogs in the prison/foster training program and liked them too!  So, if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers say I am a pretty laid-back pup, though also playful.  Even though I was not a fan of my shelter bath, I soon became all kisses and tail wags – just taking it in stride!  My trainer describes me as “loving, sweet and curious, in a good way,” as everything is new to me right now.  Social and wonderful, you are sure to love my friendly demeanor. / My energy level is 5-7.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program.  I’m known as a ‘fast learner’ and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also have good leash manners and accept nice strangers without jumping.  I look forward to learning even more with my new family. My trainer says that I’m cute and a bit of a clumsy pup. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and were also good in the prison/foster training program. I do get into things - as puppies do - when I’m out of my crate alone. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I’m a real ‘people dog’ who loves playing with toys … especially a great game of chase with a ball.  I’m also alert and love to learn new things.  So, whether we are training, playing or just giving each other lots of love – I’ll be your loyal friend for life! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a wonderful home with a loving family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
