My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A WONDERFUL LITTLE GUY:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 9 lbs.

Hi, I’m Rockey! I had a home from puppyhood, but now my family travels too much with their job and can no longer care for me.  Thankfully, Mostly Mutts was able to take me into their program and help me find a new home.  I’m in a great foster home while I wait!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  My former family reported that I liked some dogs.  I was unsure about the dogs in my foster home when I arrived (one is my size and one about 5 lbs. larger) so we have mostly been kept separate.  I did figure out how to get out of the room which is my dad’s office when he stepped away and I was discovered walking around with the other dogs, so perhaps I just needed a little warm up time with them.  I’ve just been neutered and am in my recovery period, so once I’m healed, we will meet again.  If you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! My foster also says that they think I would be a good only dog. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home.  My former family reported that I liked kids though I don’t recall their ages, so if you have kids let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me as I’m small.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:   I’m reported to be a spunky little guy who loves a comfy dog bed, and lots of treats though I take them a little roughly, so my foster just drops them in my food bowl.  In my foster home, I get to stay in my fosters work from home office while he works, and I usually happily sleep while he’s working – so I’d just love a work from home or stay at home family member!  In my former home, I was alone 6+ hours a day and I didn’t love that, so I was a little barky. I’d love a work-from-home or stay-at-home family member to hang out with. I’m a great little guy with a good personality who also rides well in the car, so you can take me places with you. / My former owner reported that I had a high energy level – though they were gone a good part of the day.  I also had a higher energy level at the Mostly Mutts shelter.  Now that I’m in a foster home where my dad works from home, he reports that my energy level is lower at a 3-5 since I can spend time during the day with my person.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My former owner reported that I know the ‘sit’ command and my foster says that I walk well on my leash.  I’m sure you can teach me lots more! / In my foster home I do well in my crate at nighttime though I don’t go in it myself, but my foster puts me in it and I sleep well there at bedtime.  My former family also reported that I was crate trained. /  My former family reported that I was potty trained and I’m doing well in my foster home though I’ve marked a couple of times since I was just neutered and there are other dogs in the home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I really love being around people and will make a great lap dog.  I also love dog beds, and I’m a good drinker and eater and I love to lean into my fosters to get lots of petting. I enjoy both playing and taking naps and I enjoy going outside to play fetch and running around to explore as well. / I can’t think of any dislikes but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.

I’m a super sweet and fun little guy looking for a great family to love and be loved by!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
