My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello!  My name is Adam. I am an affectionate, sweet and playful, medium energy, 3yr old, 28lb lab/hound mix. I like to sleep with my humans or on the floor in my own dog bed, I like both equally. I can entertain myself but I love being around other dogs. I love my fuzzy squeaky toys and can be heard playing with them in the living room all by myself. One of my favorite things to do is roll around upside down in sheets, pillows and blankets. My humans say I am adorable. Food is my favorite thing in the world, and might possibly be my love language. My foster mom and dad often call me a “good boy.” I will sit at their feet in a dog bed if they are working or next to them on the couch if they are reading or watching a movie. I love getting butt and back scratches and will verbalize adorable little grunts when you hit the right spot. Did I say I loved food? I am fostered with two small dogs (25lbs), one medium sized dog (30lbs), and one adult cat (let’s not forget the one human teenager). I get along well with the dogs but am still trying to figure out how to join the three of them in their dog play. I was not sure about the cat when I first got here but we are now ok with each other. I am learning to walk on a leash but could use some additional training. I am very friendly toward humans, even those I don't know. Did I say I love a good scratch? I love getting them even from strangers. I give good kisses but not excessively. I am also a good guard dog and will bark when someone comes to the front door. I would love a home with a fenced-in back yard where I could run around and chase the squirrels.

Are you my new family? I would love to meet you, take a walk, and sit with you as you give me scratches!

If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!

The adoption fee of $300 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!

*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website www.starfishanimalrescue.com and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.
