Vesper is a 1 year old boy who would do best being adopted with his sister Phantom or to a home with another cat. Here's what his foster person says about him:
How would you describe the cat's general personality? Vesper is a very shy kitty that is making daily progress coming out of his shell. He is very healthy, loves to play, both on his own and with me, and is socially motivated with food and treats. He likes exploring and finding cozy places in which he can be petted and given neck scritchies.
Does the cat enjoy being pet? He seems to like neck scritchies, tolerates being petted, and is starting to arch when petted on his back.
Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Too early to tell.
Does the cat come on your lap? No, not yet. He does take treats off of my legs when I'm sitting.
Does the cat like to be held? No, not yet.
Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, but nearby, and he waits patiently for breakfast at the edge of my bed. He will chase a string toy across my bed when I'm laying down.
Does the cat seek your attention? At meal time and play time, yes.
Does the cat like to play? Yes, very much!
What are the cat's favorite games and toys? He loves chasing string or wire toys, and plays with hanging toys too. He will always pounce on a toy as it is dragged out of his sight. He likes the circular ball track toys too.
How vocal is the cat? Vesper is very quiet.
What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Occasionally he will give you a soft little mew when his meal is being prepared.
Does the cat scratch a scratcher?Yes, very often.
Does the cat always use the litter box? He always has excellent litter box habits.
What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? He gets both wet and dry food, twice a day.
Is the cat picky about food? No, he always likes eating, especially the wet food!
What is the cat's favorite treat? He loves squeeze-up lickables.
Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Never.
Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Never.
Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Never.
Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? Never.
To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? So far, he is fearful of loud noises and would probably hide around new people at first.
Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? He likes to play on his back, squirming and swatting at a string toy above.
In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Vesper is steadily coming out of his shell and showing signs of being an attentive, playful companion in a quiet household. And he is clean, neat, quiet, and stunningly beautiful!
What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? His shyness is strong but he has made so much progress in just a few weeks. Patience, quiet, and treats are working to show wonderful improvements every day.
