Additional adoption info

To adopt from our shelter, adopters must fill out an application, which will be considered by our manager/ asst. manager. Our adoption fees vary depending on the animals. Dogs vary depending on a variety of conditions, such as their breed, age, and length of stay at the shelter. It is best to call the shelter directly and inquire if you have a specific pet in mind to adopt.

Go meet their pets

Our animals are kept in a kennel environment where each dog has his/her own indoor/outdoor run and a Kuranda bed (donated by our supporters!) to get them off the cold, hard floor. We are open to the public 7 days a week, (by appointment only) except for major holidays, and our hours of operation are 12-4 pm. Check out our Facebook page and website for announcements regarding upcoming adoption events, rabies clinics, fundraisers and more!

More about this shelter

The Middletown Humane Society is a no kill privately run animal shelter located in the Town of Wallkill, serving the City of Middletown as well as surrounding communities. Our small shelter was founded in 1959 and has undergone many large and small changes throughout the years. We receive no funding and survive on adoption fees and the generosity of our donors. Our shelter is dedicated to feeding, sheltering, and loving the animals that come through our door from day one until they are adopted. These animals are treated like our family until they find families of their own!
