My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lea: Dutch rabbit, Female, spayed, 1.5 years old, 4 lbs, microchipped and up-to-date on core vaccines Meet Lea! This adorable little girl is looking for her forever home. She's an incredibly sweet girl filled with young energy and curiosity. She loves to be pet on the floor next to you, but doesn't like to be picked up or held. Given this, she isn't suitable for young kids looking for a rabbit to snuggle with and needs to go to a home with adults only or older, considerate kids who Will respect the fact that she does not like to be handled outside of being pet by your side. Lea is an active little girl that loves to hop around her exercise pen, zoom through her tunnel and play with her toys. She especially likes rolling her treat-dispensing toy with around her pen for treats and pellets. She's into "bun-struction" and is constantly rearranging her pen. Lea loves timothy hay, orchard grass and Oxbow pellets supplemented with fresh veggies and herbs. She appreciates a healthy variety. Watching her eat is pretty cute! Lea's ideal home includes: An experienced rabbit owner (we're flexible on this) in an adults-only home or a home with older, considerate kids ages 13+ that will be content with petting her as she lays next to them, and with some time, possibly lay on their lap. In order to maintain Lea's current lifestyle, her ideal home also includes an exercise pen where she can run and a diet with a mix of hay and grass, fresh veggies, and pellets. She'll also need to receive medical care by an exotic / small animal vet in her new home. Lea hangs out with her cat foster siblings in her pen (with supervision) and would do great with rabbit-friendly cats!  Lea will provide her new family with endless love, affection and cuteness! Apply to adopt her today at lovepawspg.org.

Her adoption fee is $125. Lea is in a foster home in Rockville, MD.

More about this rescue

LOVEPAWS was founded as an animal intake prevention program to help keep pets in homes and out of shelters. To do this, we offer various types of assistance to pet owners including our pet food pantry and our re-homing service. We help find new homes for pets whose owners cannot keep them but do not want to surrender their pet to the shelter. While our focus is on Prince George’s County, MD, we offer these services to the entire DC Metro area.

Our scope and mission has grown quickly since we were founded in 2019 and we now pull dogs and cats from open-admission, high-intake shelters in MD, VA and other Southern states. This has expanded our rescue to be able to save dogs and cats of all breeds. Our expanded mission is to save the lives of abandoned dogs and cats and place them in loving and permanent homes. While we are a non-breed-specific rescue, we are a pittie-friendly rescue that has a soft spot for the pit bulls at the Prince George’s County animal shelter. They face the heartbreaking reality of the county’s pit bull ban which makes them unavailable for adoption to the public. We are committed to stepping forward whenever we can and wherever there is the greatest need.

LOVEPAWS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are an exclusively foster-based rescue with our foster network spanning MD, DC, and VA.
