My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roscoe came to us as a stray from one of the small towns in our county. He had a collar with a name but sadly, no one claimed him. He is a very happy boy, who loves the water hose - lol! He likes his people and will need manners training, as it doesn`t appear he`s had any. He is not overly large, but is extraordinarily STRONG! He does have a bit of a humping issue that is getting better since his neuter. We have not introduced him to dogs or cats yet, so not sure on them. He`ll be best fit to someone who has had bully breeds in the past and knows about their quirks - a wonderful fella!!

1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Find pets online or in person. We do encourage meet and greets with our pets to see how they fit into your lifestyle.

2.
Submit Application

We also require a vet reference if you have a current one, and 2 personal references, with names and phone numbers to call.

3.
Approve Application

If references check out, you will be approved for adoption.

4.
Take the Pet Home

We have a 2-week trial visit for dogs. We hold your paperwork/adoption fee and you take the dog up to 2 weeks to get to know each other.

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

At any point during the trial visit time, we will final the adoption only after you let us know that "he or she is ours"!

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees for animals at the shelter are $100 for a cat and start at $150 for a dog. This fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and distemper shots, worming, flea preventative, heartworm testing for dogs and Feline Leukemia/FIV testing for cats. Please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire to request an appointment to meet our pets.

We are a volunteer run program, so our animals can have visitors by appointment only, although we will do all we can to work around your schedule.

We are a 501(c)(3) animal shelter in Greene County, Iowa. We are a dedicated group of people who have a strong passion for animals and animal rights. We have a foster care program for dogs and cats, as well as a great group of volunteers who help out with all we do.
