My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm Ms Twitchell and I will teach you all about love, fun and happiness. I'm ~11 years old, aussie / heeler mix and just the most beautiful queen there is. I may be a 'senior' but I still have a lot of playful energy. I love going for walks, hanging out and exploring in the yard, being your shadow. I love to eat and get treats too :) I do have to take daily meds for my heart murmur and my arthritis but it doesn't slow me down. I get along well with all my foster doggy siblings, big and small. I even get along with my bunny foster brother. I don't live with cats but I'm so chill, I think I'll be ok with them too. I would be a great family dog, but I do love treats so much that I am still learning not to chomp on someone's hand when they have what I think are treats in their hand. I also have some hearing loss and don't like to be startled. I am not great with personal space so I may knock little ones down. So for now, no small kids for me. Overall, I am such a wonderful girl who just needs a loving and fun family to spend the rest of my retirement with!

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
