My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable little girl is Walnut. She is a 4 year-old Pug Mix. She has the sweetest personality: very gentle, observant, polite, quiet, and an over-all really good girl! She gets along fantastic with all dogs, cats, kids, everyone! She has gone through a lot in her previous life, and she is very timid and likes to stay in one corner on the couch with her security blanket. But once she opens up her heart, she will follow you with tail wagging and snuggle with you gently. She is very precious! She is fully house trained, walks great on a leash and can stay in a crate perfectly when you are in the same room. She is still learning to trust new environments, so she gets sad and scared when everyone is gone, but then later calms down. The ideal adopter for her would be someone who understands her insecurity and will be gentle with her and shower her with all the love in the world so that she can show her sweet personality. A household where someone is at home all the time will definitely be a plus!
Dogs are not placed on a first-come first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal, applications may take up to 48 hours to complete.

All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Walnut's adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
