My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, hi, hi! I'm Charlie! I'm about 7 months old, born 3/28/24, and just came up from Texas to find my forever family in the northeast.

My foster mom in Texas loved me and my 3 brothers but thought we had a better chance up here. My brothers have all been adopted now and it's my turn. My foster mom here says I'm one of the sweetest pups she's ever met. I'm also very handsome with soft black fur that shines in the sun. I think I inherited that from my mom, a lab mix. They think my dad may have had some Bassett Hound as I am short and only 30 pounds and my front feet turn out when I sit down. But I'm mostly lab in my looks and personality.

I am a bit shy when I first meet new people but once I get to know you I'm all in! I love playing fetch, going for car rides, going on walks with all sorts of things to smell. My home in Texas had a doggy door but here I go for walks on a leash, which I sometimes carry myself. I do like the sniffing but once I do my business I like to get right home to play with my toys or take a nap in the sun. I'm very, very good in the car, but if it's the right weather my people know they can trust me not to get into anything if they have to run into a store. I am that good!

I do miss playing with my brothers though, we had so much fun together. I live with a nice dog and a cat but they are quite a bit older and not interested. But my people play fetch with me a lot and I really enjoy that. And we go on lots of walks and rides. At night we all snuggle up on the couch and watch a little TV, which I also like to watch sometimes. When it's time for bed I get a Kong with some treats and peanut butter in my crate and settle down for a good night's sleep. Life is good here but I really, really want my own forever family... someone who would take me on hikes or maybe a kid or two that would play with me, or another dog that's got more pep than the one here. And someone to teach me new things I like learning. I wiggle all over when my people tell me how smart and good I am. I'd love to wiggle into your life so inquire about me today, and bring me home!

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
